September is a Time for New Beginnings
Last week, as I watched my kindergartener get on the bus for the first time and I tried not to cry, I got to reflecting about my own feelings toward back-to-school season: the excitement of new classes, seeing friends again, a busy calendar of extracurricular activities, and a crispness in the air that signals a fresh start.
Whether you get excited about back-to-school time or -- like my partner in his youth -- the season invokes feelings of sadness about the end of summer, September is a good time to look for new beginnings. It can be a time to contemplate your priorities, consider what's not working, and mull over what you can re-introduce into your life that excites you.
For me, this reflection has helped me realize I need to re-introduce some socializing and networking into my life. I'm certain I'm not the only one who hasn't made that a priority over the last three years; luckily, Women Leading Travel & Hospitality has a calendar full of events this fall for me to scratch that networking itch. From casual happy hour meetups with fellow Women Leading Travel & Hospitality members in Washington, D.C. (Sept. 21) to Roundtables with incredible speakers in Chicago (Oct. 11), New York (Oct. 26) and Dallas (Dec. 5), opportunities abound for me to meet like-minded women and have conversations outside of work and family life.
This fall, I hope you'll join me in recommitting to a healthy social life and consider joining Women Leading Travel & Hospitality's amazing membership or attending one of our fall events.
Happy connecting!
