How MGM Resorts' Sabbatical Program Presents a Reset to Employees

The Intermission offers executive employees the option to take up to six weeks of sabbatical from the company after five years of employment.
In 2022, MGM Resorts International launched a sabbatical program for executive leaders. The program, known as The Intermission, offers director-and-above-level employees the option to take up to six weeks of sabbatical from the company after five years of employment — no questions asked and no strings attached.
Christy Thom, director of talent management at MGM Resorts International, recently spoke about the benefits of the program during Women Leading Travel & Hospitality's Oct. 17 Virtual Exchange livestream event.
"It's designed so you can step away from that day-to-day work, refresh, reset and come back with new, innovative ideas and solutions," Thom told the audience.
